Not that UMass isn’t representin enough in this post, but why is David Gibbs absent from the all-rookie-A10 team?

And I’d put Outerbridge as the PF on that team

[Thanks for the comments John. There were several others, Gibbs and Outerbridge among them, who were given serious consideration for the team. Both Gibbs and Outerbridge will likely have great careers at their respective schools, but several factors were considered. For instance, at URI, no freshman forward - including Will Daniels, Kahiem Seawright or Lamonte Ulmer - has played more than approx. 18 minutes in his first season the past few years… Outerbridge will also add strength in Jim Baron’s weight program as the years progress, which will aid him. At UMass, Gibbs has a better chance of breaking out, but is 4th in a very talented backcourt containing Chris Lowe, Ricky Harris and Anthony Gurley. That said, he has the physical tools and, if he earns his minutes through hard work on the defensive end, he has as good a chance as anyone in the league at making the All-Rookie Team.] - CCT Staff

I am amazed that Marcus Johnson is not on the All Defensive team! And he should also be on the 2nd team All Conference. Marcus Johnson is deff better then Lasalles Rodney Green.

Ummm… Kevin Anderson. David Gonzalvez. Huh?

[Thanks for the comment. See CCT’s Top 25 Returnees, where they are ranked No’s 17 and 23, respectively, in the conference. The loss of Dan Geriot (who would have been a 2nd Team All-Conference selection: Top Returnee No. 9) his presence and passing ability, a key to Richmond’s offensive continuity, will impact the team, including Anderson and Gonzalvez.] - CCT Staff

      Great preview…

Maybe I’m a little biased having attended Xavier, but no Terrell Holloway on the All-Rookie team? Granted there will be a logjam of guards coming into the program this year, but Holloway was heavily recruited and a great get for Xavier.

Why is everyone on UD being snubbed? We finished 8th for the last 3 years and this is the year we finally win the conference. Don’t worry that our best player in the last 18 years is gone and our stud can’t seem to avoid injuries. BG has this team moving in the right direction. It may take 10 years to get there with his baby steps but they are steps none the less.

Good job CCT, Although I do think you are a bit high on Kenny Frease, his PT will not allow him to make the all rookie team barring injuries.

Also, I think Chris Wright being on the first team is also a little lofty. Wright won’t have Roberts to lean on all the time this year. One of the reasons he was so effective was the fact that Roberts kept the defense honest by forcing teams to form the whole defensive gameplan around him.

This year, Wright will be the guy that the defensive strategy is formed around. And no, Macrus Johnson isn’t Brian Roberts, so quit acting like he can just fill that void.

I’ll give you a name you might see on the All-Rookie team by year’s end : Shamarr Bowden. Shamarr has impressed coaches quite a bit in practice and he shot very well in Canada (led the team in scoring for 1 game, thinking it might’ve been 2).

Lutz’s offense always functions with a good perimeter shooter. Just look at the history, Goldwire, Alexander, Plavich, Demon Brown, Jobey Thomas, etc. etc.

Nice to see St. Joe’s getting some love. Almost everyone is predicting a monster year from Nivins. Phil will be Phil. It’s nice to see GWill getting some attention too.

To the Dayton fan who claims Marcus Johnson is “deff better than Rodney Green”: You’re kidding, right? Check out overall stats and Green is better, and then check out head to head stats, and it’s not even close. In the two times they’ve faced each other (Dayton won by 2 two years ago and La Salle won by 3 last year), Green avgd 17 pts, 5.5 rbds, 3 assts, 1.5 blks and 1 steal versus Johnson’s 4 pts, 5 rbds, 2.5 assts, 0.5 blks, and 1.5 steals. Take off your Dayton blinders. Green is better.

La Salle will be lucky to win 3 A-10 games this year. and uddunk everybody knows your not a UD fan so get a life you scrub. And no Wright don’t need Roberts to Lean on. Wright will be a top 10 pick in 2010. I will come on here laughing at all you when Dayton wins the A-10. And is in the top 15 by the end of the season.

“La Salle will be lucky to win 3 A-10 games this year”. Quite frankly, probably the most uninformed comment ever posted on this blog. La Salle returns more pts, rebounds and minutes played than any team in the league, and adds 6′9″, 240 lb brutes Vernon Goodridge and Devon White, who you probably have no idea about it but will before too long. Read up on the rest of the league, no M.J? Maybe you’ll learn something.

CW will get drafted in the top 10 but for the Euro league. He hasn’t done squat yet and just like Roberts(who didn’t get drafted even tho he was the best guard the cryers have had in 18 years)he doesn’t have a supporting cast to help him. Be happy win your 8 conference wins and another NIT. BG is making great progress.
