• Smith coached nine seasons (97-06) at Central Michigan, guiding the Chippewas to the 2003 NCAA Tournament.

• Smith got his start as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan from 1989-1996.

• Holds the Michigan high school career scoring record, scoring 2,841 points while at Mio Au Sable High School (1976-79).
